Record Store Day Returns for Its 18th Edition on April 12, 2025
Record Store Day is set to make its return for its 18th edition on April 12, 2025!
RSD was founded in 2007 by independent record store executives Chris Brown (Bull Moose Music) and Eric Levan (Criminal Music), along with Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Brian Poehner, and Don Van Cleave. The idea was born at a meeting of independent record store owners in Baltimore, and it has since become a global phenomenon.
In 2023, the music industry experienced a 10% increase in revenues, reaching $45.5 billion, surpassing pre-pandemic cinema earnings. This growth was largely driven by streaming platforms and a resurgence in record sales, which rose by 15.4%.
This year, RSD is partnering with DEYA Brewing Company, based in Cheltenham, to create a special edition beer. This exclusive brew will be available at participating record shops, bottle stores, and pubs in April.
Returning as partners for the 2025 edition are Studio by Miraval and Bowers & Wilkins. Chateau Miraval, a renowned French wine estate with a legendary recording studio that hosted acts like Pink Floyd and The Cranberries, continues its association with the event.
Bowers & Wilkins will also support the record store community by providing high-quality audio equipment to enhance the vinyl listening experience. Additional details and activities will be revealed in the lead-up to the event.
The Revolver Club played a pioneering role in introducing Record Store Day to India, marking the beginning of a vibrant celebration of vinyl culture. The inaugural event, in 2017, featured a collection of over 6,000 records across genres like blues, jazz, rock 'n' roll, country, electronic, Indian classical, and Bollywood, attracting both seasoned vinyl enthusiasts and newcomers.
Since then, The Revolver Club has expanded RSD celebrations to cities like Hyderabad and Kolkata, while also partnering with brands like Subko to enhance the experience. With live performances, DJ workshops, and community-driven activities, TRC has received an incredible response across all editions; and remains committed to continuing its tradition of hosting Record Store Day events, fostering a thriving vinyl community in India.
