I have been collecting LPs when I was around 15 years old.

How Large is your vinyl collection?
I have around 2000 Lps in my collection from pop, rock, jazz, Indian Music, and a few 12" singles.

Which is the most valuable record in your collection?
I cannot really put a name to my favourite artist or LP record, as I love all of them. But my most valuable LPs would surely be my autographed LPs signed by the artists I have met and interviewed as part of my job as a music journalist. I also cherish my coloured LPs of Elvis, Bob Dylan, STYX, and of course the Picture Discs of Mariah Carey, Duran Duran, Village People, Boney M, Amitabh Bachchan, Banarama and a few others.

Tell us about your turntable setup.
I have a Technics 1200 MK 2 Direct Drive Turntable which I bought in 2003. You won't believe it but I bought it for Rs.1000 from a raddiwala near my house. Previously I owned a Technics SL Q2 Semi-Auto Direct Turntable. Before that, I had a Dual 721 Direct Drive Turntable. Presently I own the Technics Direct Drive Turntable, a Philips Holland belt-driven turntable and a 12 DC Shift Black Series MP3 turntable. I use the Technics Turntable which is connected to my Sansui Graphic Equaliser and my Technics amplifier, played through three-way Bolton speakers. Alternatively, I also use the same setup with Philips Holland single cone speakers.

Any advice to people that are about to start their collection?
Start collecting records you really like, a particular genre or artist, from genres rock, pop, jazz, or any genre you like. Try to get the original pressings of these artists LPs. Most of my collection is of the original pressings, Indian and a lot of imports. Start your collection with what you would like to hear, rather than collect LPs for the sake of making a collection.
What genres of music do you like?
I love listening to classic rock, pop and 70s and 80s disco and 90s pop/rock.
