How long have you been collecting records for?
About 11 months now.
How Large is your vinyl collection?
120+ records with a few doubles here and there.
Which is the most valuable record in your collection?
A first pressing of Ray Barretto's Acid (Mono). Besides that, from a purely personal perspective, the most valuable record in our collection would be Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother, which was the first record my partner picked up for me.
Tell us about your turntable setup.
Pro-Ject Essential III with an Ortofon OM10 (primary TT), House of Marley Turn-It-Up with Audio Technica AT-91 (secondary TT), Pro-Ject Phono Box, Cambridge Audio Topaz AM5, Polk Audio S24 (primary), Edifier R1280DB (secondary)
Any advice to people that are about to start their collection?
Do your hardware homework, learn to tune your own setup, get your audio and electronics basics right, and spend time cleaning your records. And, don't use records to listen to your gear.
What genres of music do you like?
Progressive rock, especially from the 60s to the 80s; psychedelic; krautrock; electronic in the vein of Kraftwerk and Air; jazz; blues; classic rock; and so on. Our collection is eclectic to say the least.
