It took Green Day a long 10months and $650,000 to make their album “American Idiot”. Billie Joe Armstrong, the leader of Green Day took a lot of time and thinking to pen the lyrics. He traveled for inspiration to a couple of cities, this worked out for them as the “American Idiot” is an Album that revolves around Jesus from Suburbia. It express Armstrong’s take on socio-political issues. Due to its explicit language the record was not on sale in stores like Wal-Mart.

American Idiot received rapturous reviews and was instantly declared the best album made by Green Day. With over 15 million copies sold worldwide, it’s the most successful album of Green Day. American Idiot bagged 6 nominations for the 2006 Grammy’s for Green Day, out of which they won the award for Best Rock Album
