When Willie Nelson Ran Into A Burning House To Save A Pound Of Weed
In 1969, well before becoming a superstar, Willie Nelson's house caught fire.
He rushed home as soon as he received a call from his friend; not because he was worried about his property — but to protect a pound of weed from being discovered.
The situation was pretty intense when he arrived, with his house ablaze. But Willie didn't dash in there to be a hero; he was on a mission to save his beloved stash.
He later explained, "I wasn't being brave running in there to get my dope; I was trying to keep the firemen from finding it and turning me over to the police."
With some quick thinking and the help of a friend, he managed to hide the goods just in the nick of time.
Nelson also managed to save his guitar but unfortunately, lost a bunch of demo tapes in the fiery chaos.
Willie Nelson’s Tennessee Home
Willie Nelson took this incident as a sign from God and moved to Texas where his career took off.
Within a few years, his fame grew to a point where he no longer needed to hide his love for marijuana.
In an interesting turn of events, in 1977, Willie Nelson along with Crosby, Stills, Nash and President Jimmy Carter climbed up on the roof of the White House and indulged in a joint while being guarded by the Secret Service.
