Veer-Zaara’s music was an integral part of the film and added immensely to the atmosphere that it wanted to create. It was composed by none other than the legendary music director Madan Mohan himself.
It all happened when his son Sanjeev Kohli found Madan Mohan’s recordings in his cupboard briefly after his death. When Yash Chopra found out he insisted that they be used for his film.
And so, it began, Lata Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Gurdas Mann, Roop Kumar Rathod, Ahmed, Mohammed Hussain, and Pritha Mazumder all lent their voices to Madan’s melodious music while Javed Akhtar penned the lyrics. The result is truly extraordinary.
Revitalized for a modern audience, Madan Mohan's music sounds much more dynamic and beautiful than ever before, with every instrument being heard in crystal clarity.
Even though his music has been released posthumously before this would be the first time that it would have such a massive impact, winning hearts and creating new fans all over the country. There could be no better tribute to the legacy of Madan Mohan than the music of Veer Zaara.
