Scribe: Bringing Post Hardcore To India

Scribe was a band that did everything you weren’t supposed to do as a Metal/post hardcore band, yet somehow it just worked for some reason. Seldom has there been a Metal band that has tried to bring aspects of popular culture into their music and aesthetic.
There were many things that made Scribe stood out for, the most obvious was their love for Bollywood, an act considered most blasphemous by most Metalheads who loathed the genre with a passion. Yet the band embraced it openly through their music, with their album Mark of Teja being based on “Andaz apna apna” and Hail Mogambo on “Mr. India”.
They also loved hip hop, a genre they explored both in their albums and in their live shows. Whether it was collaborating with a rapper on stage or having break-dancers from Dharavi perform on their live set. This was something new which no Metal band had done before.
They embraced everything that metalheads were supposed and turned into something completely their own. There is only one Scribe.
