Music Videos Inspired By Iconic Movies
Just like feature films, music videos also tell a story. So it’s only natural that many of the art forms’ iconic examples would reference their equally iconic counterparts on the silver screen.
Since the launch of MTV in August 1981, music videos have evolved at unimaginable levels.
Legendary Hollywood filmmakers have also explored the art of music videos.
From Martin Scorsese and Spike Lee—both invited to direct Michael Jackson—to emerging talents like Gia Coppola, who debuted with “Palo Alto” in 2013 and directed two music videos for Carly Rae Jepsen, and Jonah Hill, who debuted with “Mid90s” and later directed a music video for Vampire Weekend, show the interesting overlap between film and music.
