Maneating Orchid: Avant-garde Metal At Its Finest
Kaushal LS is a vocalist who has now become a symbol of excellence in Metal in India. He has always been a part of bands that have set the benchmark for extreme metal in the country.
Gutslit, Godless, and Eccentric pendulum have all received rave reviews from both the fans and the media in the metal community, while also doing India proud at international festivals like Wacken open air and obscene extreme. There is one band however that never really got its due.
Established in 2011, Maneating Orchid comprised Vinay Prasad (guitar, harmonium) Rahil Ahmad (bass) Mayur Nanda (drums, harmonium percussion), and of course Kaushal LS (vocals, lyrics). Currently Vishnu Reddy is the drummer of the band.
The band released its first EP “orchid” in 2016 which got featured in Rolling stone’s Best Metal releases and Best Indian EPs of 2016 list, while also being featured in international publications like Toilet Ov Hell (USA) and BDP Metal (Indonesia). Since then, the band has continued to push the boundaries of extreme metal.
Maneating Orchid is a band like no other, they play avant-garde metal that is reminiscent of legends like Blood Incantation, Converge, The Dillinger escape plan and Death yet have a style that is entirely their own.
Despite all of this the band is still relatively unknown compared to others. It's high time that the Maneating Orchid got its due.
