Stanley Kubrick, one of the greatest (if not the greatest) filmmakers of all time was also fond of his extensive vinyl and listening gear collection. As a well-known perfectionist, Kubrick would often spend thousands of hours hunched over this audiophile setup and trying and sharpen every frame, every note of his movies.
Kubrick recorded and mastered the soundscape of Barry Lyndon using this legendary setup. In order to capture images in low light, Stanley Kubrick also used specialised telephoto lenses from NASA. It seems like that not only in pictures, Stanley Kubrick was a strict perfectionist even when it came to sound.
