Are Desi Rappers Softies Or Is It Fine To Move On From A Beef?
Rappers have been battling using lyrical warfare on and off since the birth of hip-hop. Savage diss tracks have been a way to express their rivalries towards their fellow rappers. Legacies have been carved as quickly as careers have been extinguished because of one lethal diss track. At worst, some of the genre's greatest icons have been lost because of this verbal contact sport.
However, the Desi Hip-Hop scene has been riddled with incoherence when it comes to settling the differences on the mic. A bit of observation can lay bare the underneath pseudo-gangsta stance the current crop of DHH rappers tends to flounder in. The flightiness of the whole spectacle makes one wonder if there is even an actual substance to it or is it just some tactic to gain views, followers & attention. Or is it because DHH rappers have a kind soul which tends to forgive & forget the wellspring of dissing directed at them in the first place.
Whatever may be the reasons, here we would like to throw some light on the lack of consistency we came across in the DHH scene:
Divine vs Emiway:
The most hyped-over beef in the DHH scene where Emiway had apparently dissed Divine over his religion but eventually they confessed live on Instagram that everything was a big misunderstanding.
Raga vs Mufaad:
They have been involved in one of the longest diss in the scene amounting close to 3 years. Recently, they were seen hanging out together gesturing a collab on the line soon.
Ikka vs Raftaar:
Both Ikka & Raftaar since the start has been an important part of Mafia Mundeer, one of the first Hip Hop crews in the country. After the crew dissolved in 2012, they didn’t make music together for almost a decade. However, Ikka was seen getting angry at Raftaar & dissed him over multiple platforms then befriended & collaborated with him on a track.
Muhfaad vs Emiway:
At first, Muhfaad had collaborated with Emiway on a track then nearly a year later he dissed him on his track ‘Har Har Gange’ showing camaraderie towards Raftaar. Then Muhfaad took a turn & released a diss track directed toward Raftaar with support from Emiway and Raftaar & Muhfaad were both seen exchanging heated arguments live on IG at the time.
Hellac vs Emiway & Divine:
Hellac dissed Emiway in the start & eventually he was signed on Bantai Records which is a label owned by Emiway himself.
Bella vs Raga:
Bella blew off because of the diss he was directing towards Raga incessantly in the start & later they were both seen exchanging pleasantries on MTV Hustle.
