Ace Wizard On The Turntable: DJ Suketu | Artist Shoutout

An ace wizard at the turntables – DJ Suketu is truly a sensation. Reputed to be India's No. 1 DJ and famed for converting lilting Bollywood tracks into smash hits, DJ Suketu started his journey towards success long back when he started DJ'ing at the age of 15. 

Suketu Radia completed his ICSE from St. Mary's school (ISC), then moved on to do B Com from H R College of Commerce and Economics and his M Com from Bombay University. Music was his favorite pastime and while in college he spent his free time Deejaying at college functions and private parties. He further pursued a Management Diploma from S P Jain Institute of Management and Research while keeping his music by his side. He was the second runner up at the DMC World DJ Mixing Championship 1998 in India in the vinyl section. In the 2000 – 2001 DMC he stood winner in Mumbai and the first runner up in India. He soon got a Times Music recording contract and since then there has been no looking back. 

In 2003, he released his debut album '440 Volts' that was termed as the remix album of the year that had the song Pyar Zindagi Hai. A year later he released Bin Tere Sanam that took his name to unheard of heights. The track became the highest selling remix in 2004 and was Number One on the Indipop charts for many weeks, followed by Woh Lamhe which also became a sensation; an anthem of sorts.

Suketu has released five albums and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the MTV IMMIES, “myfavdj.in” for Best DJ in Bollywood (2011) and “Middle East’s Favourite Indi Music DJ” (2011) awarded by Worldtopdjs.com

Over the years Suketu has worked on numerous projects with Bollywood composers, musicians and international artists like Flo Rida, Sean Kingston and Iyaz. Suketu is the only Indian DJ who provides DJ tutorials and music production courses on his YouTube page. The bespectacled Scorpio, who looks more of the studious kind than a DJ, is also the Founder of The Music Inc, a DJ and Electronic Music Production training school.
