The Baltika brand (Балтика, meaning "Baltic") was introduced around 1960 but had a very brief run, with only a single design produced. Its uniqueness stemmed from the use of the calibre 2609 movement—a sophisticated, 21-jewel mechanism with cap jewels, marking the first watch movement created in-house by the Petrodvorets Watch Factory.
This early calibre influenced a series of Raketa movements developed from the same foundational blueprint, each with minor variations.
Although the Baltika brand was discontinued in 1962, the calibre 2609 continued to be used for over twenty years. Following the brand's retirement, the Baltika's design elements were incorporated into Raketa-branded watches.
